Kaliprasanna, one of the pioneers of the renaissance of Bengal in the nineteenth century, was born in 1840 A.D. to a famous zamindar family in the Jorasanko area of ​​Kolkata. This book is memorable from many aspects. This book was the first step towards the introduction of the spoken language in literature, especially the Sanskrit word Kontakt language, and is therefore remembered in Bengali literature.

 

Kali Prasanna Singh’s greatest achievement in his life was to translate the original Sanskrit Mahabharata into Bengali and publish it at his own expense. He encouraged him in this great work. Vidyasagar himself. Under his supervision and with the help of Hemachandra Bhattacharya, Bhuvanchandra Mukhopadhyay, Navinkrishna Bandyopadhyay etc., Kaliprasanna performed this laborious and difficult task.

 

What Kaliprasanna did in a very short life inspires wonder. In contemporary times, he was able to create a great stir in language, literature and social life.

 

He was appointed Honorary Magistrate and Justice of the Peace by the Government. Kaliprasanna passed away on 24th July 1870 AD at the age of only thirty years.
